“Stop Speech of Hate”
Stop speech of hate is an urban project for reporting and removing hate speech in Wrocław: content and graphic elements violating decency and human dignity. It is addressed to the general population, school communities and property managers responsible for the aesthetics of buildings.
Report speech of hate
You have seen hate speech or symbols of hatred on urban space objects? Report them to us. You can do it using a special form.
Or by sending to anonymous e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org pictures of stickers, posters, inscriptions, symbols that promote hatred, along with the location.
How it’s working?
Each application is registered in the IT system and subjected to the procedure. The removal of hate speech is carried out directly by property managers or by persons performing work for social purposes, adjudicated by Wrocław district courts. The project is implemented by the Wroclaw Center for Integration (Wroclaw Center for Restorative Justice) in cooperation with the Wroclaw Center for Social Development (Wielokultury Wrocław), the Municipal Police and the Police.
What is hate speech?
All forms of expression that spread, incite, support or justify racial hatred, religion, xenophobia, anti-Semitism or other forms of hatred arising from intolerance, including intolerance expressed through aggressive nationalism and ethnocentrism, discrimination and hostility towards minorities, immigrants and foreigners origin.
According to the definition of the Council of Europe, hate speech is statements, subtitles, gestures degrading the other person, which lead to specific activities towards these people, encourage violence against them and undermine basic values such as human dignity and democracy.
